We often hear stories of individuals who experience the loss of a parent in their adult years, but rarely do we hear the story of adults discussing the long-term effects of losing a parent during childhood. Joining me under My Apple Tree is Amanda who at the age of 11 experienced the loss of her mother, Cheryl.
We discuss how she has coped and survived the loss of her mother and how the impact of losing her mother has affected her relationship with her father and her sister.
We discuss gifts Amanda has found in the midst of her grief, the moments she feels most connected to her mom, she shares what she wants the world to know about her mother and she offers advice to other young people who have experienced the loss of a parent.
